Equine Nervous System Regulation in Surrey
Calm, one-to-one support helping horses feel safer, calmer and more at ease within themselves.
I offer one-to-one equine nervous system support sessions across Surrey and surrounding areas, designed to help horses who may be experiencing tension, stress, or behavioural sensitivity.
Sessions take a whole-horse approach, considering physical comfort, emotional wellbeing, behavioural changes, and how the nervous system may be responding underneath these patterns.
When the nervous system becomes overwhelmed, this can show up in many ways — from tension and reactivity to subtle changes in behaviour or comfort.
By supporting the nervous system to settle more naturally, horses often begin to feel calmer, safer and more comfortable within themselves.
Why Nervous System Support Matters
A more regulated nervous system supports:
• Relaxation and emotional stability
• Improved physical comfort and mobility
• Clearer communication between horse and handler
• Greater capacity to learn and respond
Who This May Help
These sessions are suitable for horses and ponies of all ages, disciplines, and backgrounds.
Support may be helpful if your horse:
• Appears anxious, unsettled, or easily overwhelmed
• Shows behavioural changes or reactivity
• Holds noticeable physical tension
• Displays stereotypical behaviours
• Seems “not quite themselves”
• Is adjusting to a new environment or routine
Some owners also choose sessions as part of ongoing wellbeing and maintenance.
What Happens Before the Session
Before your appointment, you will receive a short intake form. This helps gather important information about your horse, including:
Background and history
Current concerns
Behavioural observations
Your goals for the session
We’ll then arrange a short call to discuss your horse and answer any questions before confirming your booking.
Sessions take place at your horse’s home environment across Surrey and surrounding areas, allowing them to remain relaxed in familiar surroundings.
What to Expect During a Session
I begin with quiet observation to understand how your horse moves, responds, and interacts. From there, the session develops at the horse’s pace.
Some horses engage quickly, while others take a little more time. Both are completely okay.
A range of complementary approaches may be introduced where appropriate, supporting the session as a whole rather than applying a fixed method. These may include bodywork, sound-based approaches, or animal self-selection, depending on what your horse is able to engage with on the day.
The focus is on creating the conditions for the nervous system to settle and reorganise naturally.
For example, some horses who initially struggle to settle or engage may begin to stand more calmly, soften in their body, or show increased willingness to interact over a series of sessions.

Your horse is always free to move, pause, and respond in their own way. Sessions are guided by their body language and comfort at all times.

How Many Sessions are Needed?
Every horse is different.
Some show noticeable changes after a single session. Others, particularly where patterns have been present for some time , benefit from a short series.
Many owners choose to begin with a short series of sessions, allowing the work to build gradually over time.
